Done in the physics/anatomy lab at my school. My teacher had asked me to paint an ocean mural, and I had fun with it.
About 12 feet by 6 feet, rough measure. Done in acrylics.
I painted on average about 2 or 3 hours a day. But it was worth it. It was extremely fun to paint, there were so many interesting conversations that I was a part of while doing this - and cutting class to paint is always a plus. I seriously think every animal on there had a name at some point. Like my one teacher was the crab - she can get crabby. The "Hippo rock" is Lolita, and she has flowers in her hair. The octopus was French. But I can't remember his name. The whale is named "Mo." Don't ask haha. The jellyfish is the teacher who asked me to paint this - beautiful but with lots of 'sting.' I could go on. :]
I'm sad that it's done. But yet, I'm overjoyed. Haha.
I can't say I did it ALL by myself. I did receive help from a few good friends along the way. <3
Since I suck at taking photos, and everything is blurry, I don't have practically any "detail shots." And since this mural is in school, it will be a while before I actually get to take any more photos. >.<
Oh my gosh. That is wonderful. That kind of brings me back to when I used to live in the city. There was a mural kind of like that but it was done with spray paint... and messy but now it's all gone. You and your friends did an excellent job.
You and your mates did a magnificent job on this. If I do say so myself, this is quite an impressive piece. What a way to spruce up your school, too!
When I was in middle school our principal commissioned a team of artists to paint a western scene on our main building. They let the kids all paint it together (small school). Well the very next day, we came to school only to see that the professionals had painted OVER the work we did. What the...heck... that's so outright harsh. Ugh! [/lame mural story]
Anywho, I think you (and those who helped) did a grand job on this here mural. Let's hope that your school is smart enough to never paint over it; years and years of students will walk by it and say "Dammit I wished I was that good". <3 It's also rather interesting that you managed to even work in a few faculty members... heehee. Do they know that you turned them into sea creatures?
WOW,thats great!! You should come by,and paint my room sometime!! Thats a great job!!
